I used to have grand designs to fill my kids’ playroom with gender-neutral, eco-friendly, brain-building toys in tasteful colours. They would play with them in very creative, intelligent ways. They might occasionally make some noise, but it would never be too obnoxious.

And then I had kids.

Now my life is filled with batteries, toys that fall apart easily and/or need constant supervision. They’re loud and ugly and plastic. And the kids love them.

I’m always on the lookout for great toys that my kids will remember as their very favourites. I could make a business out of buying the perfect toy for  a kid of any given age and gender. I love toys. This is a place to discuss the best – and the worst – out there.
